DeWitt Charter Township's Community Development Department (CDD) works to create, diversify and enhance job growth and to promote business development and stability. CDD supports businesses and the development community within township government and between regional agencies. It also partners with other organizations to further economic development.
Business Recruitment, Retention and Expansion: CDD provides information and support to businesses wishing to relocate to DeWitt Township and local businesses planning to expand. We work closely with the Clinton County Economic Alliance, township business groups, and other governmental entities.
Small Business Support: CDD helps small businesses by providing strategic advice and support. The department is involved in ongoing commercial revitalization in various township areas and serves as a clearinghouse of information on small business programs, financing and resources.
Commercial Rehabilitation Tax Abatement Policy: CDD works with existing business owners and new investers in facilitating the Commercial Rehabilitation Tax Abatement Program. The department ensures that qualified business owners are able to take advantage of this program.
Foreign Trade Zone: CDD works with the Capital Region Airport Authority and Port Lansing which established Foreign Trade Zone No. 275 that has allows U.S.-based companies to defer, reduce or even eliminate custom duties on products admitted to the zone.
Major Partners: CDD has cooperative and/or contractual relationships with a number of business organizations in the township and Lansing Region to foster job creation and economic prosperity for residents and businesses in DeWitt Township.
Success Stories: CDD worked with and facilitated existing and new business expansions despite the current economic climate.
