The State of Michigan Freedom of Information Act provides citizens with powers to access public information from local government. The Township Clerk is the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) coordinator for DeWitt Charter Township. All requests must be made in writing and submitted to the Clerk's Office. For your convenience, the FOIA - Procedures and Guidelines (PDF) and a Freedom of Information Act Request Form (PDF) is available online.
The form is offered to assist you in making a request for information; however, all requests will be handled in accordance with the law. There may be fees related to your FOIA request.
The Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining all official records of the Township including ordinances, resolutions, contracts and correspondence. The Clerk also prepares the official minutes of the Board of Trustees meetings. Copies of Township records are available by contacting the Clerk's Office.
