The purpose of the Board is to foster citizen interaction and cultural exchanges between DeWitt Charter Township, the City of DeWitt, and sister cities abroad. Through a sister city community relationship, citizens of the DeWitt area are afforded the opportunity to experience Japanese culture through student exchange programs. The DeWitt Sister City Board was originally created February 2, 1998.
DeWitt Charter Township and the City of DeWitt have entered into a sister city relationship with the City of Koka, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. This relationship is designed to foster citizen and cultural exchange programs between participants. The DeWitt Sister City Community Board shall keep informed of matters necessary to enhance the relationship between the communities, and shall make recommendations to the Township Board of Trustees and the DeWitt City Council concerning such matters.
